This apartment community in Pomona, California, serves veterans and their families by providing high-quality affordable housing with modern amenities and supportive on-site services.  The exterior draws from surrounding mission architecture and the historic Pomona train depot, and incorporates public art elements to tie into the City’s nearby Arts District. The 1.27-acre site is also walking distance from the Transit Center and lively downtown area. 

Our common-area design played off the Modern Mission exterior, using natural tones with pops of bright colors to invigorate and animate the family-friendly surroundings.

The complex includes 61 residences, a 1,052 square-foot Veterans’ Center, a 1,725 square-foot Children’s Center, and a two-story Community Center for resident services, programs, and events. Onsite amenities feature laundry facilities, courtyards, gathering spaces, and an outdoor play area. 

An onsite services coordinator provides assistance with transitioning to civilian life and navigating the immense Veterans Affairs system, and the children’s center hosts after-school programs, tutoring, mentoring, art, educational games and recreational activities.
