The thoughtfully designed logo for Lantern Terrace Apartments provided refreshing inspiration for our collaboration with Related California on this affordable community near Los Angeles, California. Our assignment encompassed the units and common areas of a new five-story structure in Alhambra’s Downtown District — including an 1,100 square foot community space with a computer area and conference room, offices for management and social services, a play area, and a rooftop terrace.
The branding’s clean lines and earthy hues set the tone for a minimalist and modern overall style, with a palette that also features soft greens and blues. The lantern theme is echoed throughout, and the result is an artistic and inviting ambiance.
Light wood tones in the community room flooring and furniture create an open and inviting atmosphere, with splashes of color in the accessories and artwork — including the abstract organic shapes in the playful mural. The vertical layout of the sleek green subway tile offers an unexpected aesthetic that delivers more energy and movement than traditional layouts, and also makes the space feel taller.
A geometric slatted-wood feature in the reception area creates a sense of texture and depth, and the contemporary pendant lights are both functional and decorative. The flooring displays a visually striking, multi-tone design with subtle accents that add interest without overwhelming the space. Two velvety rounded armchairs add a luxurious, comfortable and welcoming touch.
The retro wall art and a vibrant accent wall make this conference room a creative space to connect and collaborate.
The rooftop deck combines a peaceful natural setting with a touch of urban charm, making it an ideal spot to relax, work, or enjoy the surrounding beauty of the San Gabriel mountains.
