Bryson Legacy was recognized in the “Best Affordable Multifamily, Mid-Rise/High-Rise” category for its people-centered approach to affordable supportive housing in a dense urban setting.

This celebrated community has received previous national and regional honors, including:

Together, these awards reflect a consistent commitment to quality, collaboration and design that supports long-term community impact.

Inclusive Spaces That Promote Well-Being

JAG Interiors approached Bryson Legacy with a focus on comfort, durability and long-term livability.

Common areas were designed as natural extensions of residents’ homes — spaces to gather, relax, learn and connect.

Indoor amenities include a library and business center, classroom and supportive services spaces, fitness room, community laundry facilities and bike storage — all designed to support daily routines and independence. Outdoor amenities, including the rooftop deck and a third-floor courtyard, play an important role in balancing density with openness, offering residents access to fresh air, views and shared moments above the city.

Honoring Legacy While Building for Today

Located along Wilshire Boulevard in Los Angeles’ historic Westlake neighborhood, Bryson Legacy sits directly beside the iconic Bryson Apartment Hotel and across from Lafayette Park, just steps from the Westlake/MacArthur Park Metro Station. The site supports a truly transit-oriented lifestyle, connecting residents to green space, public transportation and neighborhood resources.

Designed by AO Architects, the six-story building draws inspiration from the neighboring Beaux Arts landmark while respecting its scale and massing. Clean lines, contemporary materials and rhythmic proportions create a modern presence that feels grounded in its architectural context — honoring the past while supporting the needs of today’s residents.

Supportive Housing with Purpose

Bryson Legacy is a 100% affordable community, serving households earning 30 to 50 percent of Area Median Income, and expanding access to permanent housing for residents with diverse needs.

The project includes 15 lottery units, 33 CES-referred residences in partnership with Mental Health America of Los Angeles, and 15 homes dedicated to residents with developmental disabilities through the Frank D. Lanterman Regional Center.

Accessibility is thoughtfully integrated throughout the community, with 11 fully accessible units, including eight mobility-accessible homes featuring grab bars, accessible hardware and appliances, and three hearing and vision-accessible units equipped with hardwired audible and visual doorbells, fire and smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.

A Shared Commitment to Community

With a collaborative team led by The Richman Group and AO Architects, Bryson Legacy reflects a shared commitment to affordability, accessibility and thoughtful design. The project’s growing list of national awards underscores what’s possible when housing is shaped around people, place and long-term stability.

JAG Interiors is honored to have partnered on Bryson Legacy and proud to see the project recognized at a national level — not just for how it looks, but for how it supports residents and contributes to the vitality of the Westlake community.
